Chamberlain vs. Haren

Ok... for those of you who think Chamberlain is more of a keeper and that Haren is hands down better than him, I will post their stats lines against each other for the remainder of the season and then we'll see who has the better second half and with comparable first half's, the better season.

Chamberlein        Haren

Totals

S0... as you can see, Joba is pitching better than Haren, albeit slighty, but given that I got Morrow in the trade as well, I come out ahead.

Below are Stats from ESPN.com.... the stat lines are 1st half of 2008, including 1 start after the all-star break:

Joba Chamberlain: (Stats as a STARTER) [WHIP 1.30]

2.81 (ERA) 1 (W) 1 (L) 8 (GS) 0 (CG) 41.2 (INN) 38 (H) 15 (R) 13 (ER) 2 (HR) 21 (BB) 46 (SO) .245 (AVG)

Dan Haren (Stats as a STARTER) [WHIP 0.95]

2.58 (ERA) 9 (W) 5 (L) 20 (GS) 0 (CG) 132.2 (INN) 102 (H) 43 (R) 38 (ER) 10 (HR) 24 (BB) 119 (SO) .209 (AVG)

MORE:

Haren Ranks:

4th (Innings Pitched in NL)
3rd (ERA in NL)
7th (Strikeouts in NL)
1st (WHIP in NL; 2nd in MLB)
1st [K:BB Ratio]

Joba Ranks:

14th (Holds in AL)

SOO....

Haren for the rest of 2008 in BARB is soo much more valuable than Joba, even going deep in the numbers they show Haren more valuable than Joba.

Furthermore, if Haren continues his performace in the 2nd half, he may perhaps win the NL CY Award, thus proving still more valuable than Joba for the 1st half of the 2009 BARB season.

Like I said, it will be till around late 2009 BARB or beginning of 2010 BARB till Joba impacts BARB the way Haren is.

... That is if Joba develops into a dominate starter like he was as a reliever. It will take time, like Haren, to see how he turns out. As time told, Haren developed into a star; now will Joba. Also, another question that will only be told by time is durablity; Haren is one of the few dominate starters with a clean bill of health and proven durability, throwing over 200+ innings for a few years now.

CAN JOBA DO THIS??? Right now, NO, cause he is laboring every start, is throwing as hard as he was relieving which of course he needs to turn it down a bit, and has a past of injury concerns.

To me, he is a reliever. Perhaps could be the BEST closer if he gets a chance...

NEWS FLASH: FUTURE will have Joba as the NEXT closer when Rivera retires... which is SOON!

OH and to make this argument about who has a better half, NOT DECIVING, please use the STARTER STATS ONLY when showing Joba's numbers. His ERA is a combined relieving/starting stat and for BARB, he will only be using STARTER stats, so lets be real and use the true stats!

Thus, his current ERA (joba) is, as a STARTER, is 2.81

OH AND I WAS NICE TO YOU: his WHIP is actually higher than 1.30 as a starter... just too tired to look for Starter only WHIP...

SO yeah...

all im doing is posting the stats game by game for the remainder of the season to determine who has the better second half. im predicting joba gets stronger being as the yanks are in the hunt and haren gets weaker given that history repeats itself.

HA HA HA HA HA

JOBA LEAVES WITH INJURY....

ALSO PITCHED... WELL REALLY BAD

ALSO THREW 93 PITCHES IN JUST 4 INNINGS

you might not want to trade your ace when your trying to win now!

joba pitched just an 1.1 less innings and gave up one more earned run. it took an injury to jobas deltoid muscle to pitch this poorly. What's Haren's excuse? that is was monday?

You keep making a big deal about me trading an ace. I got one in return who ten times more upside and dont forget, he is already an ace. Plus i like having Morrow back there instead Sherrill.
